Modalitites
Maori Massage
This modality originally comes from Aotearoa- New Zealand- as Elodie has been studying with the Maori Healers since becoming a bodyworker in 2008. She specializes in this type of bodywork that resembles “deep tissue” - structural work. Her clients may stay fully clothed for their session unless the use of oil is needed. Elodie uses her intuition, feet, knees, elbows, raakaau (stick), stones, as well as energy work, assisted stretching, visceral manipulation among other methods to address what is coming up, while holding space with compassion. Her intention is to realign her client’s body and help them release energy blocks, chronic pain or tension that is held and no longer needed.
This session is wonderful for people who are ready to receive deep work.
Postpartum Massage
A postpartum massage will help rebalance the body, soothe sore muscles, cramping and will encourage pelvis structural integrity. Trained at the Institute for Birth Healing by Lynn Schulte, Physical Therapist, Elodie will apply the method of looking for the common pregnancy and birth patterns that may be left in mother’s bodies.
She will focus on helping internal organs to resume proper placement and re-establish pelvic structural integrity, help to restore the uterus to its original state, relieve neck, shoulder, hand, and wrist pain from caring for a newborn, ease lower back and pelvic pain, facilitate healing after a Cesarean birth with manual scar tissue remediation and address birth trauma.
What type of disfunction can it gently address: Diastatis recti, stress, baby blues, sore arms, wrists and shoulders from breastfeeding, mid back pain, low back pain, C-section scar discomfort, loss of sensation and connection in the pelvic bowl, difficulty taking a deep breath, constipation, diarrhea..
This session is not only for new moms but for all postpartum moms. If you have had a vaginal birth, you can receive this massage as soon as you feel ready. However, if you have had a Cesarian birth, please wait 6 weeks to be fully healed.
We ask that you come wearing loose yoga pants or leggings to this session, and know that abdominal massage and gentle visceral manipulation will be performed.
The treatment consists of a 60 min massage but plan to be there for up to 90 min as we will take the time to discuss your birth story and if you are a new mom, find out how you are healing and adjusting to caring for your newborn.
Pregnancy Massage
Trained in prenatal massage and at the Institute of Birth Healing, Elodie would love to help you feel great during your pregnancy. She will blend a variety of techniques including Thai Yoga massage, Deep Tissue massage, and the holistic treatment of the pregnant body, to stretch, lengthen and relax mama’s sore muscles. This massage can help with hip pain, sciatica, back pain, round ligament pain, shoulder and neck pain..
Past your due date? We know it is hard to relax at this point, but relaxation may be just what will start the process, in addition to some key pressure points that may help move things along.
